By far the most rough around the edge and hot-headed sport is football. He has played since he was 7 and many parents/coaches/refs/players are out of control. I have witnessed physical fights by the grown-ups. I have witnessed coaches from both sides getting ejected. I have seen parents yelling across the field at each other and at the kids. I really hate this aspect of the sport. My son really enjoys and excels at the game, which is why I have agreed to let him play. But, it is why I prefer not to sit in the stands during games. It only gets worse with each passing year. I like you wish everyone would adopt and actually adhere to some football commandments.Nicolenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338422951394907311.post-22642292257407985632012-09-13T11:37:50.468-04:002012-09-13T11:37:50.468-04:00Couldn't agree with you more! Perhaps I would hve done better or tried harder at sports if I hadn't been so scared of screwing up--or perhaps I'm just naturally non-athletic. There's enough pressure from the other kids, adults should be supportive figures. Though I would like very much for my daughter to try different sports in a year or so when she's old enough I am terrified (for her and for me) of the other parents. I've seen parents get ugly at the playground, pool, and mall when there should be no competition--I worry about how much worse it will get in a sports environment. I really hope we get as lucky as Lulia and have a great group of parents when the time comes.Christinenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338422951394907311.post-64232028088813217732012-09-13T11:37:49.551-04:002012-09-13T11:37:49.551-04:00Couldn't agree with you more! Encourage your children and make it enjoyable. I have not met a great player yet that didn't enjoy what they were playing. I get that every parent doesn't want thier kid to be the reason the game didn't go well but screaming, and behaving like a banchi is far from the positive, encouraging words one needs-- besides when you do behave that way the coaches, refs, board members, parents and children are all looking at you and most likely feeling sorry for your kid that they have you as a parent.Ja'netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338422951394907311.post-57619332980018602672012-09-12T10:28:11.484-04:002012-09-12T10:28:11.484-04:00Well said. I don't know if it is because I have a girl playing or we were just lucky to get nice parents in our team but not once have I heard such language at our games!!! I would be outraged if I would have to justify/ explain/ excuse other parents' language to my children. <br>Iulianoreply@blogger.com
