I personally knew a friend (Xiao Mei) who grew up with me ended up being an acrobat. When I was in college, I received pictures from Xiao Mei, who was then the lead acrobat in a big circus in Shanghai . WOW, those pictures looked amazing. The stage, the lighting, the animals, and the acrobats themselvesBut I also knew how hard it was for hershe would not choose to jump from a three-level human-ladder if she had not got a whole family to support (a sick mom and a younger brother in college). In her letter she told me she has to practice 10 hours a day without any weekend. The only day she could get a break was the performing day. Years passed, I came to the United States, started my own family and had my two lovely kids. We went to a circus when my kids were 3 and 1. Its the first time for them and, for me. When my kids were amazed by the marvelous performance of the acrobats, I thought of Xiao Mei. I saw the happiness the acrobats brought to the audience.
