Cozywoggle: Innovative New Coat Keeps Young Children Safer in Car Seats

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children between ages 2-14, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Part of the problem is that young children are often strapped into their car seats while wearing a heavy coat, with the straps loosened for comfort. In the event of an accident, the coat compresses, leaving the harness loose and increasing the child's risk for ejection from the car seat and/or the possibility of injuries from the loose belts. Cherlyn Jenkins, mother of two young boys, has developed a solution - the Cozywoggle, an innovative new coat that's significantly safer in car seats.
"When I learned that young children shouldn't be placed in car seats while wearing their coats, I had a newborn and a toddler. I needed to find a way to keep my children warm, while also keeping them safe," said Cherlyn Jenkins, entrepreneur, CEO of CJ's Kids and mom of two. "I couldn't find any coats or jackets that were proven to be safe in car seats, so I created one myself. The Cozywoggle is a regular coat that keeps kids warm, is easy to use and has been proven, through crash-testing in a lab, to be safer in an accident.
"As parents, we excel at safety-proofing our homes, putting up gates on our stairs and latches on our cabinets, but then we inadvertently jeopardize our children's safety by putting them into their car seats wearing traditional coats," Jenkins explained. "Crash tests have demonstrated that wearing the Cozywoggle while riding in a car seat is safer than wearing a traditional coat. In fact, the Cozywoggle was proven to be as safe as riding in a car seat without any coat at all."
The Cozywoggle:
  •     Is the ONLY product that looks and acts as a coat, but is safe to be worn in a car seat.
  •     Is made from heavy-duty wind/water resistant polyester, and is lined with cozy fleece.
  •     Can be used with any 5-point harness car seat - either forward or rear-facing.
  •     Comes in sizes 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 3T, 4, 5 and 6.
  •     Is stylish, warm and washable.
  •     Comes in four colors: red, navy blue, purple, and pink.
  •     Is available for pre-sale in April and for sale in September at a price point of $64.99.
  •     Can be purchased from http://www.Cozywoggle.com.
The Cozywoggle looks like a "regular" coat, but is safer in a car seat. Children can wear it in the car, to and from the car and while running around town.
"Busy parents will also enjoy the convenience of the Cozywoggle," Jenkins added. "There's no need to juggle extra jackets or blankets. It's the perfect all-in-one solution"
About CJ's Kids, LLC
CJ's Kids, LLC was started by Cherlyn Jenkins, a mom and entrepreneur, who was a special education teacher and behavior specialist for 20 years. When she learned that young children shouldn't be placed in car seats while wearing their coats, she had a newborn and a toddler. She needed to find a way to keep her children warm, while also keeping them safe without juggling even more Items, but she couldn't find a viable solution. So she invented the Cozywoggle, the only product that looks and acts like a coat, but has been proven safe to be worn in a car seat. Because she felt that such a product should be available to all parents, Jenkins started CJ's Kids, LLC in 2012 to bring her product to the public. CJ's Kids, LLC is based in Alexandria, VA, where Jenkins tries to balance the non-stop excitement of work and family responsibilities.
