Circus Giveaway!

It's back!!! Ringling Brothers, as we mentioned a few days ago will be at both the Verizon Center and the Patriot Center!! We loved the show last year, and we're excited to see it again!! We'd like to invite a PwcMoms reader and their family to join us, too!!

Leave a comment on this post telling us your favorite circus memory and you could win a family four pack of tickets to opening night at the Verizon Center!!

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE OPENING NIGHT PERFORMANCE March 15th at the Verizon Center.  I realize it's late and a school night, but it's totally worth it, and the morning announcements aren't going to be that exciting the next day, anyway.  I looked.

This contest ends on March 3, 2012 at 5pm.

  1. I remember being 6 years old and being able to ride the elephant. That was the coolest thing to me. March 15th is the day after my son's birthday and 6 days after my daughter's birthday and would be an awesome way to celebrate. :)

  3. My grandparents took all the grandkids to Ringling Bros. circus every year. One year they picked us out of the audience to come down into the ring and ride in one of their clown cars. I'll never forget it!

My favorite childhood memory was just being able to go to the Circus every year and just being a family, my father had tons of health problems and it was always just great to be able to get him out of the house with him and my Mom and sister and brother. I wish he was still here to go with me and my kids. FYI my birthday is March 13th ;-)

  5. To this day, I still remember the very first time I ever went to the circus! It was a school trip during Kindergarten and I was sooooo excited! Even better, one of the moms bought these little lights that hangs around your necks for everyone in the class. I was so bummed because I broke my light within 10 mins of holding it. But as soon as the lights went down and the circus began, all thoughts of that little light went away. I had the best time ever watching the show. I especially loved the pretty pink flying acrobats and the jeweled elephants. Since then, the circus to this day still brings me the same excitement whenever the lights go down. I'm so happy that the circus is back in town because I can't wait to take my kids!!! My daughter is only 2 and hasn't gone yet, but my son has been twice and is in love with the lights and color!

  6. I loved going with my Mom to watch the horses. And now I've added the first time my kids saw the circus with their friends. Such excitement is intoxicating.

  7. The circus always came in October in Colorado and we always went and made it into a birthday celebration for my older sister. I remember being in awe of the pageantry and loved seeing how many clowns could come out of the little clown car. <3 My daughters have only been once since prices are outrageous, but I would love to take them. Pick me pretty please.

  8. Circus brings sooo many great memories from my childhood. I remember I was 5 the first time I step into a circus. Back home in Peru this wasn't anything fancy, just kinda small awning with a bunch of people with painted faces "clowns" doing all sort of tricks, from dancing to sketches to etc. definitely a very low budget circus but so much fun! I hope to win, this would be the first time for my 2 kids!!!

  9. As a child I was always mesmorized by the trapeze artists. I wanted to fly like them too! They're still my favorite part today as well!
Would love to win these - my daughter's b-day is the 10th!

  12. Sorry about that! I was trying to type "souvenir" when I hit post. :) Anyway, she chose a very fancy horse that she still has today. But the best part was how her face lit up when she looked at that horse and how proud she was to carry it back to her seat!

  13. Born and raised in a little town in China I had never been to a circus as a child. I personally knew a friend (Xiao Mei) who grew up with me ended up being an acrobat. When I was in college, I received pictures from Xiao Mei, who was then the lead acrobat in a big circus in Shanghai . WOW, those pictures looked amazing. The stage, the lighting, the animals, and the acrobats themselvesBut I also knew how hard it was for hershe would not choose to jump from a three-level human-ladder if she had not got a whole family to support (a sick mom and a younger brother in college). In her letter she told me she has to practice 10 hours a day without any weekend. The only day she could get a break was the performing day. Years passed, I came to the United States, started my own family and had my two lovely kids. We went to a circus when my kids were 3 and 1. Its the first time for them and, for me. When my kids were amazed by the marvelous performance of the acrobats, I thought of Xiao Mei. I saw the happiness the acrobats brought to the audience. I thank them and I knew somewhere in the world, Xiao mei is also thank by her audience for her hard work and wonderful performance.

  15. My favorite memory is the look on my daughter's face when she saw the elephants stand on each others' backs. She talked about for a month! I would love for my daughter to have new moments to share with her brother as this would be his first trip to the circus.

  16. Going to the circus with my three sisters. We sat in awe, our cotton candy untouched, with eyes wide and huge smiles. The circus is truly spectacular :) Nothing like it in the world!

  17. My grandmother used to take us to the Ringling Bros circus when we were younger. She always made sure we got there early enough to ride the elephants and to play with the clowns. We always ate so much cotton candy and snow cones and popcorn we were sick by the end of the night. I remember sitting there in complete amazement watching the acrobats fly across the sky. I still have a program from the 80's that we got signed by clowns and performers and the Ringmaster. She has since passed on but I would love to be able to pass the memories on to my children. Its fun to talk about it but its even better to capture the magic in person.

  19. I remember being in 5th grade and having my mom take me to Ringling Brothers at the D.C. armory. There Gunther Gable Williams world famous animal trainer was there and the famous "unicorn" was there as well. I was so excited and after 25 years still have vivid memories of it. I would love for my twin girls to have the same special memories with me as well.

  20. I remember taking my nieces when they were little and watching their faces light up when the guy rode the motorcycle on the tight rope, right over us.

  21. The circus was always a memorable time for me. Taking my kids and seeing their amazement at the animals, the lights, the costumes, has brought back so many wonderful memories. being able to share those with them is priceless.

  22. When my two oldest children (now 15 and 13) were little, we took them and had a blast. My kids loved the animals the best, but I was always so impressed with the tightrope walkers and trapeze artists (I'm afraid of heights). Since my two youngest have never been, I'd love to take them, along with the older two, especially since my oldest turns 16 on the 12th. I think we'd all enjoy it. The circus brings out the kid in all of us!

  23. I remember having my face painted like a clown and a mouth full of cotton candy. I wanted to ride the elephants so bad but my Mom was afraid of heights; but I really wanted to ride I begged and pleaded. My mom was brave, amazing and still is today she rode that elephant with me. I was so excited and had so much fun I never forgot what she did for me. I want to be that mon for my little girl. We would love to start a circus memory!!!

  24. I was young, only 4 or 5, and I remember being TERRIFIED that the lions would break free from their trainers and come up into the stands to eat me. But I forgot all my fears when the beautiful trapeze artists came out in their spangly costumes and started their performance.

  25. I don't have a favorite memory because I've never gotten to go to the circus. So I guess my only memory is wishing every year when it came my parents would be able to take me that year.

  28. I got the chicken pox when I was in kindergarden... on the day my class was taking a fieldtrip to the circus! So sad! But I've gone many times since then - once I even got to ride on an elephant!

  29. I can remember watching the circus tents go up and the elephants arrive in town. It was such a magical feeling knowing magic was going to take place. As I waited by the fence, I thought of the fun to come.

  30. My favorite circus memory is watching the lions and tigers walk out ever so slowly down the cage "tunnel" and onto their stand. The anticipation of their performance gets me super excited!
